BORIS SOFMAN PH.D.CO-FOUNDER, CEO
As an engineer and researcher with experience in building diverse robotic systems — from consumer products to off-road autonomous vehicles and bomb-disposal robots — Boris is making it his life’s work to create products that people would not expect to be possible. He earned a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University. Boris is an avid tennis player, but finds that Anki doesn’t allow him to play nearly as often as he’d like.
MARK PALATUCCI PH.D.CO-FOUNDER, HEAD OF CLOUD AI AND DATA SCIENCE
Mark wants to create products that truly surprise and excite people. Before co-founding Anki, Mark was the founding-CEO and principal engineer at Copera, an embedded systems and mobile software company. Prior to that, Mark held engineering and research positions at Google and Intel. He earned a B.S.E. from the University of Pennsylvania and both a M.S. and Ph.D. from the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Mark finds that flying airplanes gives him a thrilling excuse not to check his email.
HANNS TAPPEINERCO-FOUNDER, PRESIDENT
Hanns is passionate about creating products he always wanted but didn’t exist. He has worked extensively at refining the connections between operator and robot, developing deeper senses of feel and control. Hanns has designed robotics across the globe for companies in Germany, Italy, Austria and the US. Hanns studied at the University of Technology in Vienna before earning an M.S. in Robotics from the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. On the weekend, Hanns is probably working or outdoors somewhere with his motorcycle.
CRAIG RECHENMACHERCHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
Craig has 18 years of experience driving brand, product, digital marketing and business development at leading global interactive entertainment and gaming companies. He previously held a position as Chief Marketing Officer of Slacker Radio, the world’s most complete music service. Prior to Slacker, Rechenmacher was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Origin, EA’s direct-to-consumer digital distribution platform. During his seven years at the company, he led global marketing efforts for EA’s Partners and Games Label division, working on key titles including Rock Band, Need for Speed, Dead Space and The Godfather.
MARK BRADLEYCHIEF REVENUE OFFICER
Mark is a proven dynamic and strategic leader with extensive international sales and marketing experience across Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. He previously served as Vice President for Asia Pacific at EA, one of the world's leading interactive entertainment companies, with commercial and brand responsibility over product content across mobile, PC online and console gaming. He’s worked on some of the largest entertainment properties in the gaming industry including FIFA, Battlefield, Need for Speed, Plants vs Zombies, The Simpsons, Madden, The Sims and Star Wars. Mark is devoted to accelerating the pace of Anki's international expansion and establishing Anki as a household name in consumer robotics.
KARTIK RAMACHANDRANCHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
As a former member of Groupon’s global executive leadership team, Kartik brings extensive operations and financial stewardship experience to Anki. Drawing on his passion for technology and startups specifically, he specializes in building lean, high-performance, cross-functional teams armed with process and focus to stimulate growth. Prior to Anki, he was COO and CFO at Xome Holdings LLC, and held several global leadership positions across finance, product and operations during his tenure at Groupon, including CFO and President, APAC.
PATRICK DE NEALEVP, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Patrick began working in robotics as a strategy advisor at Samsung where he developed applications for autonomous robots. He later joined Neato Robotics where he worked on the design and development of the award-winning Neato XV-11, and was recognized by The Wall Street Journal for his work in robotics. He earned a B.S. from Cornell University and a M.B.A. and M. Eng. from the University of California, Berkeley. When he’s not finding ways for robotics to enrich human experiences, Patrick is disappearing off beaten tracks, eating dishes prepared on sundry vehicles, and trying to keep pace with his twin daughters.
GABRIEL HEBERTVP, OPERATIONS
Gabe has a broad background in global supply chain management, manufacturing operations, and customer support. Prior to joining Anki, he held manufacturing and supply chain executive posts at Calix, Proxim Wireless, Rhapsody Networks (acquired by Brocade), CoSine Communications, and MaxStrat (acquired by Sun Microsystems). He earned a B.A. from Saint Mary’s College and a CPIM from APICS. Gabe’s expertise in quality and efficiency has yet to improve his golf game, but that’s the furthest thing from his mind when he’s with his granddaughter.
ANTHONY ARMENTAVP, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
At Anki, Anthony is responsible for leading the software team that breathes life into company’s groundbreaking products. He brings more than 30 years of experience in leading teams that have rapidly and successfully created new product categories. Starting with 12 years of hands-on coding in real-time and multi-threaded operating systems at companies like IBM, ROLM and Taligent, he then spent 10 years in various engineering and management roles at mobile innovators like General Magic, Vadem and Palm, playing an integral role in delivering the word’s first wireless smart devices. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Engineering at Wyse, acquired in 2012 by Dell, where he led the team that invented Cloud Client Computing, combining virtualization, mobile apps, cloud services and a proprietary embedded OS to create the most robust and secure endpoints for verticals.
